WASHINGTON, DC– Barack Obama, President of the US, surprised the Vice President Joe Biden by presenting the presidential Medal of freedom, the highest civilian honor, during a ceremony.

POTUS first surprised Biden with a special send-off, as he already delivered his farewell speech. However, Biden couldn’t help but get emotional when Obama dedicated his speech for him.

The two have enjoyed a close working relationship while Obama served as president, and Obama himself even joked that “this also gives the Internet one last chance to talk about our ‘bromance.’ ”

Overwhelmed with the Medal and the send-off, Biden became overcome with emotion and had to try his best to hide his tears from the crowd. Obama proceeded to list the many things Biden has done for America, including being his best friend all those years he served as president.

“It is as Joe once said, ‘a big deal,’” Obama joked, leaving both the crowd and emotional Biden with a chuckle. He later claims that Biden is a family-man, and “folks don’t feel like they know Joe as a politician; they feel like they know him as a person.”

“For your faith in your fellow Americans, for your love of country and for your lifetime of service that will endure through the generations, I’d like to ask the military aide to join us on stage,” Obama claims. “For my final time as President, I am pleased to award our nation’s highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom.”

Overcome with emotion and caught off guard by the award, Biden praised the president as “a remarkable man who did remarkable things for this country”. He accepted the Medal, but later stated that he did not deserve it. “This honor is not only well beyond what I deserve, but it’s a reflection of the generosity of your spirit,” Biden told Obama. “I don’t deserve this. But I know it came from the president’s heart.”

The sympathetic hearts of America opened up to this emotional event. Tweets for the event and for the two in general blow up as the two bid farewell. One tweet reads, “Some of the classiest, most eloquent, smartest, and most dignified people to ever enter the White House. They will be sorely missed.”

Indeed, these two will be sorely missed in our government, and who knows if a friendship as powerful as Joe Biden and Obama will appear in our government in the future. However, these two will be forever known as leaders and are irreplaceable.
